News: GMDA Survey Finds Broken Footpaths on Seven Gurugram Roads-02-04-2026
A survey of seven roads between sectors 58 and 115 by the planning wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has found widespread shortcomings in road infrastructure, pointing to gaps in planning, maintenance and enforcement, officials said.
The report lists broken footpaths, missing drainage, encroachments and neglected green belts. On the dividing roads of sectors 62/63 and 64/65, large quantities of construction and demolition (C&D) waste had been dumped, and service roads, drains and green belts were incomplete. It also recorded unauthorised cuts in service roads, vendor encroachments and unregulated parking of buses, cars and two-wheelers that narrows the road.
On the master roads of sectors 47/49 and 47/50, it flagged damaged and encroached footpaths, unauthorised parking and cuts, and the need for more space for slip roads. In sectors 84/85 and 85/86, long stretches have no footpaths, green belts or service roads. Garbage dumping, unauthorised construction in green belts, damaged central verges, stray cattle and sewer overflow were also noted.
A senior GMDA official said CEO PC Meena ordered the survey and the problems would be resolved on priority.
