News: New Route 111 Links Hero Honda Chowk to Sector 55/56 Metro-30-03-2026
Gurugram Metropolitan City Bus Limited (GMCBL) began running buses between Hero Honda Chowk and Sector 55/56 Metro Station on Saturday, officials said, to improve connectivity and ease congestion on an 11km stretch.
The new Route 111, introduced in response to rising demand, passes Jalvayu Vihar, Artemis Hospital, Bhaktawar Chowk, Subash Chowk and Central Park, among other points. Passengers travelling more than 6.1km and up to 13km will pay Rs 20, and those going beyond 13km a flat Rs 30.
A senior GMCBL official, requesting anonymity, said two buses will run daily, covering 22 stops in about 42 minutes at a frequency of every 20 minutes. Services from Hero Honda Chowk will start at 7.05am and end at 9.10pm.
Officials expect the route to improve public transport links between sectors 34-38 and 52-57. Gurugram currently has around 150 buses on 25 routes, carrying an estimated 60,000 commuters a day.
The official said more buses may be added depending on ridership once 100 new electric buses arrive over the next three months. GMCBL has also drawn up an expansion plan covering newer sectors, the Dwarka Expressway corridor, Manesar and the airport metro interchange at Sector 21 in Delhi, with around 54 buses proposed on new expressway routes covering an estimated 96km.
