News: Kadipur Gets Haryana’s First Safe School Zone-28-03-2026
Haryana’s first "Safe School Zone", designed to protect children on the road outside a government school, was launched in Gurugram’s Kadipur village on Saturday, an official said.
According to a statement, Ravinder Yadav, Additional Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, inaugurated the project. It is being implemented by the Rahgiri Foundation under the Gurugram Vision Zero programme in collaboration with the corporation, with support from Hero MotoCorp, Nagaro and Hughes Systic. More such zones are to be developed across the city this year.
The stretch now has child-safe footpaths, raised and clearly marked zebra crossings, a 25 km per hour speed limit, waiting areas and wall art to build awareness.
The statement said 42 children die in road accidents in the country every day on average. A survey at the government primary school in Kadipur found that about 80 per cent of pupils walk to school, and earlier they had to cross busy roads with no sidewalks, safe crossings or warning signs.
Yadav said a road on which children and the elderly can walk without worry is safe for everyone, and the Kadipur zone would be extended to other areas. SDM Sanjeev Singla said such efforts give parents confidence and can succeed only through the combined efforts of the administration and the public.
