News: HSPCB Sets Deadlines for Gurugram Drain Clean-Up-27-03-2026
The Haryana State Pollution Control Board on Friday reviewed work under way in Gurugram to make the Yamuna clean and pollution-free. The meeting at Vikas Sadan was chaired by member secretary Yogesh Kumar and examined the action plan for the city’s drains, an official said.
According to an official statement, Kumar took a progress report from board and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) officials and directed that all projects be finished within stipulated timelines, with strong coordination among departments.
He ordered fresh joint sampling of sewage treatment plants, with a detailed report within 15 days. Diversion of untreated water from Phase III to Phase II is to be ensured within the same period so that treated water can be used for irrigation. All pollution points in Phase II are to be identified and mapped within three months.
GMDA was told to submit a Standard Operating Procedure for cleaning stormwater drains and sewer lines, which would help detect and remove illegal connections. Solid waste taken out of drains must be assessed, disposed of scientifically and fully recorded.
For the Municipal Corporation Gurugram, Kumar sought a report on newly registered tankers and a special team to act against illegal tanker operations. He also asked for a status report on fencing along drains and for regular inspection of all sewage treatment plants.
