News: GMDA Tenders Service Roads Along Gurugram Metro Route-26-03-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on Wednesday floated tenders to build service roads at key points along the metro alignment, so that traffic keeps moving while the line is under construction.
A Rs 2.5 crore tender covers a service road from Subhash Chowk towards Hero Honda Chowk up to Candor SEZ. Officials said the metro line beyond Subash Chowk will be built on the left side of the carriageway, and vehicles leaving the Central Park society and the SEZ will use the service road to join the main road near the under-construction Sector 48 bus depot. The tender opens on April 6 and the work must be finished within six months of allotment.
Executive engineer Amit Godara said a comprehensive plan had been drawn up to build and repair service roads on three major routes, as metro work was causing congestion on the main road in the morning and evening peak hours.
Service roads costing Rs 6.38 crore will also be built on both sides of the main road dividing Sector 5 and Sector 6, with a combined length of 1.6 kms. Officials said the existing ones are dilapidated and residents have been demanding reconstruction.
On the Palam Vihar side, a Rs 6.70 crore tender has been floated for a service road from Rezangla Chowk to Krishna Chowk, which is in poor condition and encroached upon. This tender opens on April 9. Encroachments will be removed before work starts, and completion is due within one year of allocation.
Separately, a Rs 6.95 crore tender has been floated to pave the six-kilometre stretch of the southern peripheral road (SPR) from Ghata to Vatika Chowk with tiles. One outer lane there is still unpaved, which officials said causes waterlogging in the rains and dust in summer.
