News: MCG Plans 35 Road Works Worth Rs 145 Crore in Gurugram-26-03-2026
About 35 road projects in areas prone to waterlogging have been planned by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) to prevent monsoon flooding, sewage overflow and stagnation.
Officials said 71km of roads will be recarpeted and repaired at an estimated cost of around Rs 145 crore. The list covers roads in Mayfair Garden (Sector 49), a new 24m-wide road in Sector 66 and recarpeting in Sushant Lok 3, Nirvana Country (Sector 50) and South City 2. Other stretches include 18m roads in Sector 46, roads in Sector 10A, the Samrat Meer Bhoj Chowk-village Kadarpur road and the Main Sohna Chowk to Tulip Chowk stretch in Sector 69. In several cases stormwater drains are being laid alongside. Twelve of the 35 will be developed as model roads.
Several projects carry a December 31 deadline, and the rest are expected to finish within the year. Tenders are being re-evaluated or freshly floated for at least 24 roads. Of the other 11, nine are about 25% complete and two nearly 75%.
At a review meeting last Friday, officials were told to upgrade drainage and scientifically redesign road elevations and slopes. Chief engineer Vijay Dhaka said sewage and drainage repairs will take priority, with recarpeting to follow.
HT reported on March 21 that MCG had reviewed 108 ongoing road projects covering approximately 245.4km.
