News: GMDA to Redesign 15 Gurugram Roads to Cut Dust-24-03-2026
Fifteen key roads in Gurugram are to be redesigned to reduce dust pollution, following directions from the commission for air quality monitoring (CAQM), officials of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said.
The Delhi-based School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) will do the redesign. GMDA CEO PC Meena has told executive engineers to identify priority roads, and the list is to reach SPA within 15 days.
Officials said the work will cover greening, footpaths, central verges, service roads, drainage and plantation. Many major roads, including Golf Course extension road, have unpaved edges that add significantly to dust.
A CAQM inspection of 125 roads on December 26 last year found high visible dust on 34 stretches, moderate dust on 58, low dust on 29 and none on only four.
