News: Warehousing Stock Grows 13% to 549 Million Sq Ft-21-03-2026
Industrial and warehousing stock across eight Indian markets reached 549 million sq ft in 2025, a 13% increase from 486 million sq ft in 2024, according to Knight Frank India. The cities covered are Mumbai, NCR, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kolkata and Hyderabad.
Mumbai was the largest with 170 million sq ft as of December 31, 2025. The report credited its consumption base, port-led trade and logistics infrastructure, with demand from 3PL, manufacturing, FMCG and retail occupiers and the Bhiwandi and Panvel clusters as the backbone.
NCR was second at 115 million sq ft, or 21% of the total, after growing 11.65% annually. The report attributed this to inter-state connectivity, proximity to large manufacturing bases and sustained industrialisation.
Bengaluru rose sharply to 60 million sq ft from 48 million sq ft, and Pune to 44 million sq ft from 33 million sq ft. Chennai moved to 47 million sq ft from 45 million sq ft, Ahmedabad to 45 million sq ft from 42 million sq ft, Kolkata to 42 million sq ft from 40 million sq ft and Hyderabad to 27 million sq ft from 24 million sq ft.
The report said the eight cities together hold 256 mn sq ft of potential space within established warehousing parks, more than three times the transaction volumes of 2025, which is adequate to support near-term demand.
