News: MCG Starts Rs 15-Crore Upgrade of Four Gurugram Roads-19-03-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has begun work on four internal road projects estimated at a total of Rs 1,511.85 lakh, officials said.
In Sector 46, an 18-metre-wide road of nearly 4.6 km will be built for Rs 483.48 lakh by September 16, 2026. Roads in the B and C blocks of Sushant Lok 3, about 6 km in all, will be recarpeted for Rs 312.99 lakh by November 7. The 4.2 km stretch from Omaxe Mall in sector 49 to Rosewood City, Block E, will become a model road at Rs 501.51 lakh, due by January 7, 2027. In Mayfield Garden, in sectors 50 and 51, 1.2 km of roads will be built for Rs 213.57 lakh by February 3, 2027.
Residents have repeatedly complained of potholes, uneven surfaces and damaged stretches that worsen in the monsoon and affect pedestrian safety. Balbir Singh of sector 46 said roads there break up and flood in the rains and have no proper footpaths.
Manoj Ahlawat, assistant engineer, MCG, said the stretches were prioritised on the basis of road condition and rising traffic, with a focus on durability and long-term relief.
HT reported on March 13 that MCG had begun recarpeting six pothole-prone stretches flagged during a drive last month.
