News: MCG Cuts 58 Illegal Water and Sewer Connections-13-03-2026
The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) disconnected 58 unauthorised water and sewer connections during a special drive on Thursday in Daulatabad Industrial Area and Surat Nagar, officials said.
A team led by junior engineer Satyendra Kumar, with supervisor Krishna Kumar, plumber Ramashankar and other staff, found illegal connections at industrial and commercial units. After verification it cut one bulk connection serving nearly 50 units and eight other connections. Lines that some users had illegally reconnected after earlier action were also removed.
MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya said such connections "will not be tolerated" and regular drives will continue. He urged residents and commercial establishments to use the authorised process.
The corporation has introduced an online application module on its website (www.mcg.gov.in) for legal water and sewer connections. Applicants can apply from home using their property ID and identity documents such as Aadhaar card or voter ID.
Officials said the crackdown is meant to ensure fair distribution of water, prevent revenue loss and protect the sewer network.
