News: Rs 755 Crore Tender for Elevated SPR, NH-48 to Vatika Chowk-10-03-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has floated a tender to build, maintain and operate an elevated corridor on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) from NH-48 to Vatika Chowk, at an estimated cost of around Rs 755 crore, officials said. Completion is expected within 30 months of the award.
The 4.2km signal-free elevated road will have four lanes in each direction. The design also provides 3+3 lane primary service roads, 2+2 secondary service lanes and two-lane up and down ramps at key junctions. Interchanges are planned at NH-48, to connect with the national highway network, and at Vatika Chowk, to link the SPR with the Gurugram-Sohna elevated corridor.
GMDA CEO P.C. Meena said high-capacity road infrastructure remains a priority given the city’s rapid expansion, and that the upgrade will benefit residents and commuters from various sectors, including newly developing residential and commercial clusters.
Officials said the corridor will give high-speed connectivity between Dwarka Expressway, NH-48 and the Gurugram-Sohna Elevated Corridor and reduce congestion at junctions such as Vatika Chowk and Subhash Chowk. At present, traffic from Dwarka Expressway, southern Gurugram or Jaipur heading to Sohna or Faridabad often passes through internal city routes via Rajiv Chowk or Subhash Chowk. The new road is expected to offer a direct route and cut travel time.
