News: Pachgaon Chowk to Be a Multi-Modal Hub for RRTS, Metro-06-03-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will build a multi-modal corridor at Pachgaon Chowk on the Delhi Jaipur highway, officials said on Friday. It is meant to integrate NCRTC’s regional rapid transport system (RRTS), the Pachgaon metro proposed by Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited (HMRTC) and the Haryana orbital rail along the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) expressway.
The direction came from V Umashankar, union secretary, ministry of roads, transport and highways (MoRTH), at a meeting in Delhi on Thursday evening with GMDA, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and other agencies. He observed that traffic at the junction will rise significantly as several transport modes stop there. A consultant will prepare the plan.
A GMDA official said the authority was chosen because it can more easily obtain land from local agencies such as Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
The meeting was meant to discuss shifting the Kherki Daula toll plaza to Pachgaon. Locals want a flyover there, which would leave little room for the plaza, and no final decision was taken.
The RRTS from Delhi to Gurugram and Behrore in Rajasthan will have a major station at Pachgaon, and HMRTC is close to finalising the DPR for a metro from Sector 56 to Pachgaon.
