News: Haryana to Acquire Land for 24-Metre Roads, Sectors 58-115-05-03-2026
The Haryana government will begin acquiring land to build the long-delayed 24 metre wide internal roads in Sectors 58 to 115 of Gurugram, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Monday in his budget speech. The cost will be recovered from builders.
Saini said hundreds of licensed colonies depend on narrow two karam 3.3 metre and four karam 6.7 metre roads, and promised a permanent solution this year.
He said that under Master Plan 2001, Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran acquired land and built 18-metre internal roads in all sectors. Master Plan 2021, implemented in 2007, made no provision for 24-metre roads in internal sectors, and the acquisition cost was left out of external development charges levied on private developers. The minister of the then government should explain why, he said. A transferable development rights policy introduced in 2016 and revised in 2021 has yielded only 140 acres.
Sunny Daultabad, convenor of the Dwarka Expressway Gurugram Developmental Authority, said the roads would ease life for thousands of families. Sunil Sareen, co-convener, DXP GDA, said their struggle would continue until construction of the first road actually begins.
