News: NHAI Seeks Consultant for Six-Lane Gurugram-Jhajjar Road-05-03-2026
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Monday that the Gurugram-Jhajjar road will get six lanes; a day later the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) tendered for a consultant. The road starts at the Harsaru bypass on Pataudi Road and reaches Jhajjar via Wazirpur.
A senior NHAI official, who asked not to be named, said a consultant should be picked by mid-March to prepare a detailed DPR. Cost, and whether the 33 km Gurugram-Farrukhnagar-Jhajjar road is widened in place (brownfield) or built anew (greenfield), depend on that report and the consultant’s options.
Project director Yogesh Tilak said the road, now state highway 15A, was passed to the union roads and highways ministry at Haryana’s request; NHAI will make it six-lane and run it as a national highway.
Tilak added that the Gurugram Pataudi Rewari highway is nearly finished. Surface-level traffic should use the Dwarka expressway-Wazirpur section by end-March, as should service roads on the first six kilometres, though the Dwarka expressway flyover will take longer. Saini’s Monday budget speech also announced the Farrukhnagar Bypass.
