News: GMDA Drone Survey in 42 Villages Targets Illegal Building-02-03-2026
The enforcement wing of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will carry out a drone survey of all villages within its limits to detect unauthorised construction and encroachment, officials said. The authority has found illegal development under way in 42 villages and plans legal action.
RS Bhath, district town planner at GMDA and nodal officer (enforcement) Gurugram, said violations in villages have risen and about 250 notices have been issued. The survey, by the authority’s geographic information system (GIS) division, will be matched with revenue records. Notices have gone to owners in Sultanpur, Chandu, Khentawas, Sankpa, Binola, Mokalwas, Baslambi and a few other villages. Bhath urged owners, developers and buyers to obtain change of land use (CLU) permission before developing property.
Last week the wing cleared encroachments along a 1.5-km stretch of Farrukhanagar Daboda road after a revenue department demarcation. Nearly 100 structures were removed, including nine 3 to 4 storey buildings and about 30 double-storey structures, freeing an additional 35 feet of road width.
The Municipal Committee Farukhnagar will build a new road there at an estimated Rs 7 crore over 10 months, with footpaths and green verges.
