News: Elevated U-Turn Proposed at Bijwasan Toll, Dwarka Expressway-26-02-2026
An elevated U-turn flyover is planned at the Bijwasan toll plaza on the Dwarka Expressway so motorists can turn back towards Gurugram without crossing into Delhi. The idea was discussed at a meeting chaired by NHAI chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav with GMDA officials.
A senior GMDA official said NHAI was told to prepare a detailed project report, for which no timeline exists yet, while GMDA will identify the government and private land needed so the highway authority can acquire it. The structure will be on the Gurugram side of the plaza.
The 29 km expressway has about 19 km in Gurugram, from Bijwasan to the NH-48 cloverleaf, and 10 km in Delhi, from Bijwasan to Shivmurti near Mahipalpur. Tolling began on November 29. A car pays Rs 220 one way and Rs 330 for a round trip.
Residents say that without a U-turn they must pass the plaza and pay even when not going to Delhi, and some drive on the wrong side to avoid it. Rakesh Rana, founder of the United RWA Federation, which has petitioned GMDA and NHAI, said a driver who misses the Bajghera exit must pay or use the service road in the wrong direction, inviting accidents.
Those affected include sectors 106 to 115, Sai Kunj, Bajghera, Chandan Vihar, Palam Vihar, New Palam Vihar, Upvan Society, Sahib Kunj, Nihal Colony, Prakashpuri, Chauma, Babupur and Jahajgarh.
An NHAI official said no directions had been received locally.
