News: Haryana Approves Iffco Chowk Route for Namo Bharat Line-26-02-2026
Haryana on Wednesday approved the final alignment of a 64 km Namo Bharat RRTS corridor connecting Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Greater Noida, which will eventually provide a rapid transit link between IGI Airport and the upcoming Jewar Airport.
Chief minister Nayab Singh Saini told the assembly the corridor will start at Iffco Chowk, follow the Faridabad-Gurugram road and enter Faridabad at Badkhal Chowk. Of its length, 52 km lies in Haryana. It will connect with the Delhi Metro, Rapid Metro and Gurugram Metro, and NCRTC has been directed to finalise the detailed project report (DPR). Officials said three alignments were considered at a meeting in Chandigarh on Tuesday evening.
From the proposed Iffco Chowk station of the Delhi-Bawal corridor, the line heads south via the Sector 29 road and along the median of Dr BR Ambedkar Marg. Near Sector 61, where that road meets Rajesh Pilot Marg (the Southern Peripheral Road), it turns east to Ghata Chowk and continues along the Gurugram-Faridabad Road (MDR-137, or Gwal Pahari Road).
A senior official said the route is cost-effective, serves existing and planned development around Golf Course Extension and sectors 57, 52, 44 and 29, and avoids the Tau Devi Lal biodiversity park. The Gurugram Rapid Rail will be extended by one kilometre to meet the corridor at Sector 61. In Gurugram, two integrated RRTS-cum-metro stations and six metro-only stations are proposed.
Union minister of state and Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh said the alignment will integrate with the metro line proposed between Golf Course Extension Road and Sector 5, reduce NCR congestion and help transform the economy of Gurugram and South Haryana.
An NCRTC spokesperson said the DPR is being finalised and the project will proceed once Haryana formally conveys the alignment.
In Faridabad the elevated alignment via Bata Chowk is retained, with metro stations added. It enters near Sainik Colony and Badhkal Enclave, follows Shaheed Bhagat Singh Marg on the circular road around NIT, crosses Bata Chowk at NH-44 and the Delhi Metro Violet Line, and runs east between Sectors 12, 13, 14 and 15. After crossing the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Agra Canal it turns north along Accord Hospital Road, then east along Mata Anandmayee Marg, and crosses the Yamuna into Noida. The Bata Chowk RRTS station will be integrated with the Violet Line station. Two integrated stations and eight metro-only stations are proposed in Faridabad.
On the Uttar Pradesh side, an RRTS alignment will run from Siddharth Vihar in Ghaziabad to Noida International Airport via Char Murti Chowk, Knowledge Park 5, Surajpur, Alpha-1 and Yamuna City sectors 18 and 21. It will connect with the Delhi-Meerut RRTS and Red Line in Ghaziabad, the Aqua Line at Char Murti Chowk and Alpha-1, and the Gurugram-Faridabad-Noida line at Surajpur, with direct links to airport terminals and a planned high-speed rail. An earlier DPR for that stretch estimated travel between IGI Terminal 3 and Jewar Airport at 60-70 minutes.
