News: Gurugram Metro Seeks Dundahera Plot for Power Substation-23-02-2026
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has requested 3,000 square metres in Dundahera village from the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) for a substation to power the metro network, officials said on Sunday.
A senior GMRL official said the electricity division identified the site, and the substation will supply stations and train operations from Millennium City Centre to Cyber Hub. It will draw from Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam’s 220kVA substation in Sector 20. In a letter dated February 12, chief project officer Gabdu Ram Chaudhary said design and tendering can begin once the land is obtained.
A senior HSVP official said the request had not yet reached the authority but would be handled on priority, as the metro is critical infrastructure. HSVP has already transferred land for a casting yard and depot.
GMRL has also sought half a hectare next to Transport Nagar on lease for the casting yard under construction there. This is in addition to the 5.23 hectares in Sector 33 given for the depot in August 2025. Land has further been requested for Phase-1 stations, including in Sector 20 and Udyog Vihar.
