News: Gurugram Rs 325 Crore Door-to-Door Waste Tender Opens Feb 23-19-02-2026
The Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) will open bids on February 23 for a Rs 325 crore, five-year tender for door-to-door garbage collection.
Gurugram produces nearly 1,200 tonnes of solid waste a day, and about 900 tonnes reach landfill because of gaps in collection, segregation and transport. Sanitation department data shows only around 10% of the population gets regular doorstep collection. Elsewhere lifting is irregular or informal, leading to roadside dumping, overflowing bins and repeated complaints. Short-term contracts and temporary arrangements have not kept up with waste volumes that have risen sharply over a decade.
The contract covers collection from homes and commercial establishments, transport and scientific disposal, with mechanised collection, fixed routes, performance benchmarks and monitoring. A senior MCG official said a long-term arrangement will bring stability, end reliance on ad hoc measures and ease pressure on landfills.
Additional commissioner Ravinder Yadav said the work is split into two clusters, one for Zones 1 and 2 and another for Zones 3 and 4, for better efficiency, monitoring and accountability.
Officials said the project could become a model for the rest of the city.
