News: Gurugram to Close 12 Road Cuts, Open 33 on Metro Corridor-18-02-2026
To keep traffic moving during metro construction between Millennium City Centre and Hero Honda Chowk, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) will close 12 entry and exit points on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Marg and open 33 new ones near junctions, so vehicles join the main carriageway through service roads.
The decision follows a joint survey with the traffic department, which found that the 12 direct links from adjoining sectors and villages were slowing traffic. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) has been asked to carry out the changes within 15 days. Service roads on both sides will be made fully usable to add capacity.
Cuts to be closed include those near the GMDA office in Sector 44, Greenwood City in Sector 46, Unitech Cyber Park in Sector 39, in front of Cyber Park in Sector 46 and three in Jharsa village. The divider opening in front of Sector 39 will be shut, and near the Sector 47 petrol pump the direct exit for traffic from State Vigilance will be replaced by one through the service road.
Executive engineer Amit Godara said each lane is being barricaded and pressure on the main road will rise once barricading is complete, so traffic will be diverted to service roads.
GMRL’s first-phase contract covers a 15.5 km route, including 7.5 km on this road, about 20 per cent of which is already barricaded. The corridor carries roughly 70,000 vehicles a day.
