News: Gurugram Police to Tow Vehicles at 10 Parking Hotspots-17-02-2026
Gurugram traffic police will begin an enforcement drive on Tuesday at 10 spots where wrongful parking regularly causes jams, officers said on Monday.
In the East zone the targets are markets in sectors 29, 44 and 51 and stretches around Medanta Medicity, IMT University and AIT Chowk on Golf Course Road. In the West zone they are Sadar Bazaar, Old Mehrauli Road towards the Sector 14 market, the passport authority office near Sanath Road and the area near Safayar Mall in Sector 83.
Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Rajesh Mohan said traffic in-charges and zonal officers will inspect these locations and illegally parked vehicles will be towed. The drive will run through most of the day, concentrating on peak hours, and will continue until parking improves and commuters comply. Cranes newly procured from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority will be used.
Ten temporary yards have been identified for towed vehicles. A senior officer said owners can collect them, after paying penalties, from places including a private parking near Kingdom of Dreams, in front of April House, near a water boosting station in Sector 51 and Medanta Medicity.
A first towing will cost Rs 1,500 including Rs 1,000 crane charges. For a second, the fine rises from Rs 500 to Rs 1,500 plus Rs 1,000 for the crane, totalling Rs 2,500. Last week 1,164 commuters were fined for wrongful parking.
