News: Utility Shifting Delay Slows Gurugram Metro Near Hero Honda-13-02-2026
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) said on Friday that slow relocation of underground utilities between Hero Honda Chowk and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk has held up work on the Gurugram Metro extension.
At a meeting with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, GMRL asked NHAI to move the sewage line and other utilities quickly so construction can resume.
The 15 km first phase runs from Millennium City Centre Metro station to Sector 9 and includes this 3.2 km stretch, which carries the master sewage line, the master water pipeline and a power distribution network with an electricity substation.
A senior GMRL official who attended said NHAI has been asked to make land available for the line at the earliest and warned the project will be delayed otherwise. NHAI officials said shifting of power distribution lines is being taken up and would take five to six months.
