News: Gurugram MCG Resolves Most of 40 Critical Sewer Points-13-02-2026
The Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has made substantial headway on its "Critical S-40 Points" campaign, which targets 40 priority sewerage and drainage trouble spots across the city, officials reported at a sewerage management cell review chaired by commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Friday.
In Saraswati Enclave, Ward 9, a new sewer line, a water pipeline and road restoration are complete, and the master sewer along Pataudi Road is operational. At Mohammadpur Jharsa in Ward 17, heavy silt blocking the pipeline has been removed. Super sucker machines cleaned sewers at Noorpur Mor and Badshahpur in Ward 18.
In Prempuri, Ward 13, bucket machines cleared long-standing blockages at a cost of about Rs 17 lakh. No major structural gap was found in Ullawas village, Ward 20, where routine complaints are being handled. A sump well built at Bandhwari village has improved flow towards treatment facilities.
Sewer systems in sectors 42 and 43 have been streamlined. In Sector 43, where pump failures caused repeated overflows, the line has been joined to the GMDA master line using trenchless technology, which lays or repairs pipes without digging up the surface.
Work in Laxmi Garden and Rajendra Park is nearly finished, including trenchless laying of a large-diameter pipeline beneath the Dwarka Expressway and strengthening of the master sewer from the Dhanwapur STP.
Officials said most S-40 points now show "100% resolution". Remaining major works, among them widening the stormwater drain in Sector 10 and sewer upgrades in Khandsa, Basai and Begumpur Khatola, have an April-May deadline. Dahiya called the drive a major step towards lasting relief from sewer overflow and waterlogging.
