News: Gurugram Metro Construction Starts With First Pile-11-02-2026
On-ground construction of phase one of the Gurugram metro began on Tuesday when Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) started casting the first concrete pile in Sector 45, on the road from Millennium City Centre towards Subhash Chowk.
A senior GMRL official said about 3,000 piles will be cast between Millennium City Centre and Sector 9 station, supporting roughly 750 pillars. Many of these should be visible between Subhash Chowk and Millennium City Centre by the end of May.
Pile casting involves drilling deep holes, lowering iron cages and pouring concrete to carry elevated viaducts and stations.
The official said work is gathering pace while the alignment and tender for phase two are being finalised, with the tender to be floated soon. The Bakhtawar Chowk underpass will also begin shortly following GMDA’s approval.
Phase one comprises a 15.22 km elevated viaduct with 15 stations from Millennium City Centre to Sector 101, a 1.85 km spur to the Dwarka Expressway and a ramp to the proposed Sector 33 depot.
