News: GMDA to Bar Non-Performing Contractors From Future Work-11-02-2026
Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) chief executive officer PC Meena on Monday told officials to act firmly against contractors who miss deadlines or deliver substandard work, as complaints mount over broken roads, waterlogging and sewage leaks.
He was reviewing the Infrastructure division, hours after Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini took note of damaged roads and ordered priority repairs. Meena said there would be no compromise on quality, safety or timelines, and lapses affecting the public would be dealt with strictly.
Junior engineers are to check central verges daily so that curb stones are repaired, painted and finished on time, and broken slabs and open manholes on footpaths fixed. All SDOs and JEs must certify that surface drains in their areas are fully desilted and connected end to end with master stormwater drains.
To ease traffic, T-junctions and slip roads will be improved, and trees must be preserved when footpaths and cycle tracks are built. GMDA and MCG will jointly identify spots where construction waste or silt lies on roads and run a one-time drive to clear debris and remove defunct electric poles.
Contractors with unsatisfactory records will be disqualified from upcoming GMDA projects, and notices will go to non-performing agencies.
