News: Bakhtawar Chowk Underpass Approved; Work Starts in a Month-07-02-2026
An underpass at Bakhtawar Chowk in Sector 38 has received approval and work should start in roughly a month, officials said on Friday.
Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) officials said the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) issued a no objection certificate on Friday. The underpass forms part of the first phase of the old Gurugram Metro project and will be funded by GMDA. It runs from Millennium City Centre towards Subhash Chowk.
The Sector 47 Metro station will be built above the one-kilometre underpass, with both structures sharing the same pillars under the approved design. The station will have two entry and exit gates.
The state government decided last year that GMRL should build the underpass since it lies on the metro alignment. GMRL shared the design with GMDA last month and sought the NOC.
A two-lane road will run on each side of the underpass. Before the stretch is barricaded, a two-lane road for traffic and a U-turn above the underpass will be made ready.
