News: Garhi Harsaru Road Rail Overbridge to Link Dwarka Expressway-05-02-2026
The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to fast-track a road overbridge across the railway line on Garhi Harsaru Road in Sector 37D, improving the link between the old city and the Dwarka Expressway and easing congestion.
A consultant has been engaged to prepare the detailed project report, expected in two months. The crossing has become a chokepoint as population has grown in sectors 37C, 37D and 9B and in Basai and Garhi villages.
Resident Pradeep Kumar said the stretch is congested because the road is broken and the crossing closes often for trains. About half a kilometre before it is dilapidated and regularly waterlogged, he said.
Executive engineer Amit Godara said GMDA has also asked the Land Acquisition Department and HSVP for details of land needed for a nearby road that would improve movement. The tender will be finalised once the DPR is ready.
The Railways has approved the structure and will share the cost. A December 21 letter from Northern Railways said it would bear 50 per cent of the total cost of the over- or under-bridge including approaches, excluding land and structures needed for approaches or diversions. The road authority will bear the remaining 50 per cent along with those acquisition costs.
