News: Gurugram Police Add Barricades on NH-48, Jharsa Flyover-05-02-2026
Gurugram traffic police on Wednesday put up 20 jersey barricades and replaced damaged crash tyre barricades at identified points on the Delhi-Gurugram-Jaipur Expressway (NH 48) and the Jharsa flyover in Sector 39, in a bid to cut accidents on high-speed stretches.
The geo-mapped locations include Sirhol near the MCD toll plaza, the entry and exit points between Gurugram and Delhi, and exits 9 and 14 of the Jharsa flyover.
DCP (traffic) Dr Rajesh Mohan said the barricades help motorists make out safe directions from afar, which is particularly useful at night and on fast roads.
In 2025, 400 such collision cushions were placed along dividers and at blackspots across the city in three phases. The first covered 45 locations between Signature Tower in Sector 14 and Kherki Daula in Sector 84, followed by safety markings on highways including NH 48 and at busy junctions.
NH 48 saw 233 accidents last year, according to traffic police data, and the district recently engaged an independent consultant to recommend safety measures.
The traffic engineering centre at the Sector 28 traffic towers used geo-tagging to map the barriers at medians, gores, tapered zones and sharp curves. They carry reflective tape for visibility in dense fog.
