During the inspection of Nathupur Road, U and S Blocks of DLF Phase 3, ofcials found widespread encroachments—portions of the road, as wide as 10 feet and illegal extens buildings were also found.

: GMDA officials inspected DLF Phase 3 and Vyapar Kendra, Sushant Lok-1, as part of an anti-encroachment drive leading to illegal commercial activities in residential areas, said an official on Saturday.

During the inspection of Nathupur Road, U and S Blocks of DLF Phase 3, officials found widespread encroachments—portions of the road, as wide as 10 feet and illegal extensions of buildings were also found. Nathupur Road, which links to MG Road, remains congested due to unauthorized establishments, said an official, adding that most road spaces were encroached upon with vendors and temporary shops, with rents ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 per month.

RS Batth, GMDA's DTP and nodal officer for enforcement, said, "A strategy will be prepared to tackle encroachment systematically. Large residential plots were misused, where each floor was illegally converted into gyms, commercial spaces, or one-bedroom units with up to four flats per floor, often leased to students for stays. These are in clear violation of norms."

The team also instructed shopkeepers to remove their establishments from corridors and parking areas and ensure compliance with regulations to maintain the area's functionality as a commercial area. "We will first seek public support and have a dialogue with all stakeholders to stop further illegal constructions. Public participation will be key in ensuring long-term solutions. Also, a detailed survey is being conducted in DLF Phase 3 to identify and document all violations. We will focus on clearing road encroachments and action in a way that genuinely curbs such issues. In the case of habitual offenders, we will take strict action against critical violations," Batth said.
