News: Illegal buildings in seven colonies on govts radar, DTCP kick off sealing drive-10-08-2023
: Hundreds of unauthorised buildings and illegal commercial establishments in seven licensed colonies — DLF 1, 2, 3 and 4 and Sushant Lok 1, 2 and 3 — are under the scanner of Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) which launched a sealing drive on Wednesday.
As many as 18 commercial establishments operating out of residential properties were sealed by the enforcement wing of DTCP in Sushant Lok 1. These establishments were allegedly being run without permission, according to officials.
After DTCP director general TL Satyaprakash directed Gurgaon district town planners to take action against unauthorised construction and illegal commercial activities in residential plots, around 700 property owners have already been issued notices in the last two weeks. According to officials, the drive will continue till August 31 and no offender will be spared.
DTCP has already shared a detailed sealing drive plan with the district administration and the proposal has been sent to deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav for approval. The department has requested for the appointment of duty magistrates to run the sealing drive.
Initially, show-cause notices were issued to 110 new houses of DLF Phase 3, 4, Sushant Lok 2, 3. Later the number went up to 350 and as of Wednesday, the total number of show-cause notices served is over 700. DTP (enforcement) had formed three to four teams and issued orders to paste notices on the identified properties.
As soon as time to reply for show-cause notices is over, the department will issue restoration orders.
Under the Haryana Urban Development Act, 1975, DTP office has given an opportunity of hearing to the property owners and seven days to file the reply. Almost every day, around 50-70 property owners are approaching the DTP office to file replies. Sealing action will be taken against those whose answers are not satisfactory, said an official.
“These commercial activities in residential areas, which come under the non-nuisance rules, for which property owner has to take permission after which he can use 25% area for permitted commercial activities. But most of the property owners are running activities like gyms, salons, clinics, restaurants, shops and others without mandatory permissions. I appeal to the people to stop the activity on their own, no hearing will be held during the sealing drive” said Manish Yadav, DTP (enforcement).
