News: Hand over flat or pay rent, buyers of Mahira Homes tell developer-22-07-2023
A group of homebuyers of Mahira Homes in Sector 68 protested at the developer’s office in Global Foyer mall on Golf course road on Friday. They alleged that the affordable housing project launched five years ago is still incomplete and the government agencies have failed to take action against the developer.
Aggrieved homebuyer Anu Gupta said if there is further delay in handing over of the flat, the developer should arrange for a temporary rented accommodation in nearby society for all the buyers and bear the rental cost. “The homebuyers will have no option but to go and stay in the incomplete allotted flats as it has become difficult for them to pay both rent and EMI,” she said.
“Around 1,500 families have bought flats in this project and were expecting possession in 2022, but the construction has been stalled. DTCP too has failed to take any concrete action against the developer and offer respite to the aggrieved homebuyers who invested in the project,” said a buyer requesting anonymity.
Tarang Agarwal, another buyer, said, “If the developer does not give possession of the flats then homebuyers will be forced to launch a series of protests at PM and CM office along with DTCP and HRera offices.”
In total around 5,000 homebuyers of affordable housing projects in sectors 63, 68, 95, 103 and 104 in Gurgaon launched by Mahira Homes developer are still waiting for their homes. The homebuyers have alleged that HRera, DTCP and other concerned departments have failed to take action against the developer, who has cheated the homebuyers and stopped construction of the projects.
