News: Directors, senior executives of Ansal Housing booked for fraud-23-06-2023
Police have booked the directors and several senior officials of a Delhi-based developer for allegedly cheating an investor
According to police, several people booked shops in Ansal Hub, a commercial complex in Sector 83, in 2010. The builder, Ansal Housing Limited, promised possession in 2014 but the properties are yet to be ready.
Gaurav Kalra, one of the investors, said, “Despite paying 95% of the total amount by 2015, the project has not been delivered to anyone so far. Later, we came to know that the licence from Rera was valid up to only 2013, but the builder continued to breach the law by carrying out construction at the project site. In 2021, we staged protests against the builder and filed a complaint with the city police commissioner in 2022.”
A spokesperson for the developer said, “The project was under arbitration post-Covid and was finally awarded to Ansal to finish the project and deliver. Work resumed and is absolutely on track and will be finished soon.. Everything will be completed within the stipulated time frame.”
After investigating the matter, police on Tuesday lodged an FIR against 12 people associated with Ansal — including its board of directors, former directors, and marketing and sales team members — on Tuesday under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC at Kherki Daula police station.
“We have registered an FIR and have started a probe,” a senior police officer said.
