News: Work on Global City like to start in Aug, three land parcels to be auctioned-06-06-2023
: The work on developing civic amenities at the Global City project site will likely to start in August. The Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has invited bids for auctioning three land parcels, totalling 142.5 acres, at a combined reserve price of Rs 7,817 crore.
The Global City project will come up in two phases on a total of 1,003 acres in sectors 36B and 37B along the under-construction Dwarka Expressway.
In the first phase of the project, the HSIIDC will develop 570 acres. Out of that 570 acres, three land parcels of 78.5, 23.8, and 40.2 acres are up for grabs in the first e-auction. Officials said the reserve price of the 78.5-acre land parcel is nearly Rs 4,957 crore, the 23.8-acre land parcel Rs 1,298 crore, and the 40.2-acre land parcel Rs 1,562 crore.
Earlier, the HSIIDC prepared a Rs 758-crore estimate for developing essential services and civic amenities at the project site.
However, the estimate has now increased to Rs 931 crore. The HSIIDC will spend nearly 50% of the total on building a 5.5 m X 5.5 m utility tunnel.
The Global City is being developed as a “digging-free city” by placing all utilities in a “tunnel”, so there is no need to excavate roads for repair, maintenance, renovation or upgradation of utilities.
It will be the second city after GIFT City, Ahmedabad, to have such a utility tunnel, officials said.
“With this utility tunnel, there will not be a need for frequent digging up of roads for laying new services. The utility tunnel will allow extending underground services in the future without digging roads,” said HSIIDC deputy general manager Arun Garg.
The Haryana government wants to develop Global City as the central business district of Gurgaon with modern technology, low-carbon green infrastructure, and commercial and residential sectors.
It is a mixed land-use project where companies can develop office spaces, residential housing and commercial complexes in one place
The HSIIDC is the developer of Global City and will provide road, water and other arrangements.
Till now, the state government has conducted five roundtable conferences to attract investment for the project. Two of these were organised in Gurgaon, two in Dubai and one in Mumbai.
