GURUGRAM: MCG took over seven private colonies on Wednesday, over a month after DTCP ordered the takeover of nine colonies in the city.
While the developers of Sushant Lok-2 and 3, Malibu Towne, Vipul World, Rosewood City, Uppal Southend and Ardee City have handed them over to the corporation, the takeover of Greenwood City and Mayfield Garden is still pending.

According to MCG officials, a representative of Greenwood City told them that they need one more day to hand over the colony since their builder isn’t in the city and they want to inform him before completing the handover formalities.

The developer of Mayfield Garden, meanwhile, said they have written to DTCP to get a rebate on the assessment amount that the builder has to pay to MCG to complete deficient infrastructure in the colony. “The detailed project report prepared by DTCP is based on some other account books and our revised estimates, which were approved by the authorities, were based on others. As per the DPR, the estimated cost of completing deficient infrastructural works is Rs 16.4 crore, but according to us, it would cost Rs 4.5 crore,” said Ajay Shokeen, assistant general manager (marketing), Mayfield Projects.

“These are inflated estimates since the stakeholders were not involved in the survey during preparation of the DPR. We will apply for review and a joint survey will be conducted to revise this DPR. We agreed in-principle for the takeover but this DPR should be revised simultaneously. We will hand over the colony only then,” he added.

The estimated cost to complete deficient infrastructure in Mayfield Garden is the highest at Rs 16.2 crore, followed by Malibu Towne (Rs 14.7 crore), Greenwood City (Rs 14.3 crore), Ardee City (Rs 10.9 crore), Sushant Lok-3 (Rs 10.4 crore) and Sushant Lok-2 (Rs 8.5 crore), Vipul World (Rs 8.9 crore), Rosewood City (Rs 4.5 crore) and Uppal Southend (Rs 3.6 crore). DTCP is yet to recover this amount from the builders.

“We will call the two builders (of Greenwood City and Mayfield Garden) for a meeting on Thursday and will take over these two colonies as well the same day. Moreover, the process of taking over seven colonies was completed on Wednesday,” said Vivek Gill, the superintending engineer, who is also the nodal officer for takeover.

Officials said the builders have been told to assist MCG for functioning of all services until June 30.

“As a councillor, I receive a lot of complaints from the residents of these colonies since a majority of them fall under my ward but I could not resolve their problems since these colonies were under the private builders. I can now take the complaints to the MCG House and get them resolved,” said Kuldeep Yadav, councillor of ward number 29. The colonies under his ward include Sushant Lok-2 and 3, Malibu Towne, Mayfield Garden, Vipul World and Greenwood City.
