News: Status of projects in Gurugram: Officials told to meet councillors-11-06-2022
GURUGRAM: With several councillors complaining that no action has yet been taken on the decisions taken at the last two Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) house meetings, the mayor has directed the civic body officials to hold a zone-wise meeting with the ward members to apprise them of the action taken on the directions.
The meetings of the wards falling under zone-1 will be held on June 13, followed by zone-2 on June 15, and zones 3 and 4 on June 16.
The councillors said that a number of decisions which were taken at the last two house meetings have not yet been implemented. For example, it was decided that 200 streetlights would be provided to each ward. The councillors said that despite hours of discussion and argument on the issue, the work has begun but the streetlights have not yet been installed in each ward.
Another pending issue, the councillors said, is providing each ward with a tractor trolley and earthmovers to ensure cleanliness.
Mayor Madhu Azad said, “I had invited agendas for the next house meeting, however, a majority of the councillors complained that the decisions taken at the last house meetings were not implemented. I have told the additional commissioners to hold meetings and check whether the officials concerned have taken any action on the decisions taken in the previous house meetings or not. A report will be compiled and submitted to me and the MCG commissioner.”
“The decisions on the sale and transfer of land are executed in time after the house meetings. However, the development projects, which are approved at the House meetings, are hardly implemented on ground and face perpetual delays,” said Ashwani Sharma, councillor of ward number 19. “The last four years have mostly been about delays in the development works approved by the house. One example is modernisation of community centres, which was approved at a house meeting in 2020, however, it has not been done yet.”
Another councillor, Kuldeep Yadav said, “The issue of stray animals causing accidents on roads and monkey menace comes up for discussion at every house meeting. Despite resolving the issue at the house meeting, the implementation has not been done on the ground and the problem still persists. Another issue of horticulture waste has not been resolved yet.”
