News: Illegal advertisements in Gurugram: Builders, schools get notices-07-06-2022
GURUGRAM: Taking note of the defacement caused by illegal posters and advertisements, MCG has started a campaign against illegal posters being put up at public places. It recently issued 28 show-cause notices to builders, schools, private healthcare institutions, hotels and other commercial units for illegal advertisements across the city. “MCG is issuing notices to those who are defacing public spaces. The notices are being issued as per the provisions of the Haryana Prevention of Defacement of the Property Act, 1989. The exercise is being done under the supervision of the joint commissioners,” said Amardeep Singh, additional commissioner, MCG.
MCG issued 201 recovery notices in January to the advertisers for illegally installing advertisements across the city. The civic body has made the assessment to recover Rs 94 crore alone from the illegal advertisements. The officials also said that in case the advertiser fails to deposit the fee, an FIR against the advertiser is lodged and police make the recovery of the advertisement fee. If the illegal advertisers still don’t pay the penalty to the police, the case is sent to the zonal taxation officer.
