GURUGR AM: To check building norm violations in licensed colonies, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has asked realtors to ensure that approved structural drawings are strictly adhered to during construction.
At a meeting with some 100 realtors from Gurgaon Home Developers and Plot Holders Association on Tuesday, district town planner (enforcement) RS Batth also made it clear that tree felling for construction purposes without the permission of the authorities concerned shall be considered as an offence. Moreover, the uprooted trees must be transplanted to maintain Gurgaon’s green cover.
“They have assured us that not a single member of the association will indulge in any illegal construction. They were told to work out options for augmenting the infrastructure in areas and to carry out plantation or transplantation if trees are felled during construction,” Batth told TOI.
Pankaj Rampal, general secretary of the association, said, “We have decided to work with the department to check illegal construction in residential plots in licenced colonies. We will also make the plot owners aware about the zoning violations so that they do not face any action from the enforcement authority. We will also spread awareness so that prospective homebuyers check if a builder is registered with the association.”
President of the association, Narendra Yadav, said that along with the DTCP, they will soon launch a tree plantation drive in the city. “We have planned to increase Gurgaon’s green cover by planting more than 50,000 trees in licensed colonies, sectors and other areas of the city. We also intend to hold meetings with RWAs so that we can jointly work towards making Gurgaon a smart city, focusing on cleanliness, beautification and greenery.”
Another association member said “We are against any unauthorised construction. But there have been cases where minor additional constructions have been carried out. In such cases, the owners should be charged extra and their property should be regularised.” Batth said the association members have been directed to ensure that construction material is used as per the norms. The department will not tolerate violations of any building guidelines, he added.
