GURUGRAM: : As many as 12 property owners have been booked for allegedly carrying out unauthorised construction in violation of building norms in DLF-3 on the recommen dation of the department of town and country planning (DTCP).
The DTCP has recommen ded FIRs against 50 property owners of three blocks — S, U and V — of DLF-3 for allegedly carrying out unauthorised construction in violation of the building code. Five property owners of V block DLF-3 were booked for similar offences last week.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said the 12 property owners who have committed serious violations by carrying out illegal construction in their buildings were booked in the past three days.
“The property owners in S, U and V blocks have been booked for carrying out unauthorised construction in violation of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975. The owners have violated the norms by raising their buildings to a non-permissible height without factoring in structural stability aspect,” Batth told TOI, adding that the violations could lead to disasters like building collapse and cause irreparable loss to the public during earthquakes or other natural calamities.
According to the Section 3 of the building code, nobody can erect or re-erect buildings in a licensed colony without seeking mandatory permissions. Also, the Section 10 of the building norms says violation of any provisions of the Act or the rules made thereunder or any of the conditions of a licence granted under Section 3 shall attract punishments, including imprisonment.
A senior DTCP official said construction of huge unauthorised structures beyond permissible limits is not only causing undue pressure on the essential basic amenities and infrastructural facility planned and developed for a particular population in an area but also will become a nuisance for residents living in the vicinity.
“During three demolition drives last year, these property owners were asked to take corrective measures but they have not adhered to the directive. The offenders have deliberately continued with unauthorised construction which is a punishable offence,” he said.
