News: Lying idle for 10 years, YEIDA takes back plots from firms-01-04-2022
In total, the industrial authority took back around 2.2 lakh sqmt from the private developers and passed an order to forfeit Rs 27.3 crore that they had deposited.
NOIDA: The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Thursday cancelled plots allotted to eight builders who had failed to initiate any construction on the sites handed to them over 10 years ago.
In total, the industrial authority took back around 2.2 lakh sqmt from the private developers and passed an order to forfeit Rs 27.3 crore that they had deposited.
Officials said while seven of the developers were given plots ranging between 10,000 and 29,000 sqmt in Sector 22D, one agency was allotted over 82,000 sqmt in Sector 22A. These plots were allotted in 2011-12, but hardly saw any construction over the years.
The decision to take back the plots was taken in a meeting chaired by YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh. “After all these years, the authority has gone ahead and cancelled the lease deeds. The developers had also failed to clear the dues. Now, fresh allotments will be done,” an official said.
Of these builders, the highest amount -- Rs 11 crore -- was forfeited from Omnis Developers, which had been allotted 82,836 sqmt in Sector 22 A. It was followed by Ajay Realcon, whose Rs 5.3 crore was deposited. The authority also confiscated Rs 3.4 crore of Starcity Infradevelopers, which was allotted 28,783 sqmt.
The other developers that faced the authority’s action were UG Infrastructures, Trivelli Projects, Sunwhite Infratech, Pratham Realventure and Growth Infradevelopers.
The airport project in Jewar, meanwhile, is not only opening up new investment avenues in the region but also attracting unauthorised builders trying to sell properties to unsuspecting buyers. Acting on such complaints, YEIDA has already taken action against some unscrupulous developers over the past few days.
A day earlier, the authority had razed several illegal constructions near the airport site and cleared over 50,000 sqmt of premium land. According to officials, the illegal colonies were being built in Jhhajar and Enayatpur villages of Bulandshahr district.
The villages are within a 6km radius of the airport. FIRs were also registered against the accused developers.
“Reports against several such builders have been prepared. Action would be taken against many others soon,” CEO Singh said. He also warned residents against investing in such properties, saying the authority would not be responsible for the losses incurred to them.
