GURUGRAM: As many as 80 buildings in teh city have been declared as dangerous structures by the MCG.Officials said the civic body has issued notices to their owners, asking them to either demolish such buildings or make structural changes to make them safe. A report on the same has also been submitted to the Haryana Human Rights Commission (HHRC). A majority of these unsafe buildings are in old Gurgaon. In fact, a total of 183 buildings were identified as unsafe or dangerous structures by a private firm contracted by the MCG during the recent property tax assessment survey. Of these, MCG’s executive engineers evaluated 152 buildings and found 72 to be safe and 80 dangerous. The executive engineers will evaluate the remaining 31 buildings by this month-end, officials told TOI. Vivek Gill, a superintending engineer of MCG, said, “We have issued notices to the owners of these 80 buildings and submitted a report on the dangerous buildings in the city to HHRC on January 5 this year. We have given them time to respond after which we may start sealing these buildings since they are not safe for dwelling.
Senior MCG officials said that the executive engineers have been given clear directions to identify such buildings and take action as per the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994.
