News: Gurugram: Five DLF-3 properties fined for violating building norms-17-12-2021
GURUGRAM: Five residential buildings in DLF-3 were on Thursday slapped with a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh and served notices for violating National Green Tribunal (NGT) norms. The enforcement wing of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) also recommended that approvals for the properties be withdrawn if they fail to comply with the tribunal’s guidelines within seven days. The department warned that it will seal the buildings if the property owners don’t adhere to the norms. In case of failure to deposit the penalty amount – each of them has been fined Rs 30,000 -- the property owners will face strict action as per the law In the past two weeks, DTCP has served notices to 57 properties and issued challans of more than Rs 17 lakh for violations related to construction norms. As per NGT, any person, owner and or builder found violating its conditions is liable to pay a compensation of Rs 50,000 if construction activity takes place and Rs 5,000 if norms are not followed for transportation of material or debris in trucks or other vehicles. The notices served to the building owners said during inspection, it was found that they had not taken appropriate measures to comply with NGT and ministry of environment, forest and climate change guidelines issued for construction activity at the sites. This, the notices added, was in gross violation of the provisions of Air Act, 1981 as well as MOEF&CC guidelines of 2010.
