News: DC orders recovery of demolition cost from developers-08-09-2021
Gurgaon: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has claimed that Rs 35 lakh was spent on demolition drives against illegal colonies in Gurgaon in the past one year. At a meeting of the district task force on Tuesday, Gurgaon’s deputy commissioner directed officials to recover the demolition dues from the violators and add the same as arrears in the land revenue records of the developers if they fail to pay up.
During the meeting, DC Yash Garg, along with district town planner RS Batth and police officials, also discussed stricter measures to check mushrooming of illegal colonies and remove encroachments. Possible action against unauthorised construction in DLF 3 and the Saraswati Kunj area were also discussed during the meeting, officials said.
“In the past one year, the enforcement wing of DTCP carried out around 200 demolition drives and razed over 125 illegal colonies. The department spent around Rs 35 lakh on these demolition drives, which included hiring of earthmovers and other resources,” Batth said. “The amount has to be recovered from around 450 people, who are either land owners or builders of these illegal colonies.”
On this, Garg directed the authorities to mark the defaulter builders in red in the revenue records. And in case they fail to clear the pending dues within a stipulated period, the demolition dues should be added as arrears in their land revenue records, he said. “Carving out of illegal colonies must be stopped at the initial stages only and strict action should be taken against offenders.”
During the meeting, construction of several illegal buildings in the Saraswati Kunj area was discussed in detail and the district town planner and the police were directed to check such activities and take action against builders, including registration of FIRs against the offenders. Batth, who is also member secretary of the district task force, said the plot owners in DLF 3 who have constructed additional floors will soon be served notices and action will be taken against them.
