News: 10 structures in illegal colony razed in Sector 72A-21-08-2021
Gurgaon: Amid heavy resistance from locals, the enforcement team of town and country planning department (DTCP) razed 10 structures while demolishing an illegal colony spread over 15 acres in Sector 72A on Friday.
Officials said, the builder — NKV developers — did not comply with the orders despite FIR being filed against them in June 2019 and two demolition drives being carried out in February and July 2020.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said a demolition drive was held at Sector 72A in a illegal colony being developed in the name of NKV builders in around 15 acres. “During the drive, 10 under-construction structures were demolished and road network was razed with the help of three earthmovers,” he said.
He added that the colony was earlier also demolished and in July, a team had visited the colony and warned people not to carry out further construction in the colony. However offenders didn’t stop, therefore the demolition drive was conducted.
On future course of action against the offenders, Batth said the department is in process of identifying the builders, brokers and others persons, who were part of the project, and will lodge an FIR against them. “We have strict orders from the director to take such cases to conclusion in order to prevent illegal colonies from coming up again,” he said.
Assistant town planner Ashish Sharma said the drive was heavily resisted by the locals, but police managed to control the situation. “People who have invested in the plots and construction informed the officials that they have been duped by the builder,” he said.
A buyer said the investors are not at fault as they weren't aware about the legal status of the colony, the builder concealed the facts and sold the plots to them. “We have invested our life long savings in the plots and after the DTCP action, it seems we have lost everything,” he added.
