GURUGRAM: The city’s ambitious e-vehicle zone project is fast gaining momentum.
The MCG has decided to construct a waiting area at all the proposed e-vehicle stands in the zone. Toilets will also be built near each e-vehicle stand. Moreover, some 400 charging points will be set up in the proposed zone, officials said.
While the concessionaire of the e-vehicle zone was asked to build the waiting areas and set up the charging points at a meeting on Thursday, the civic body will itself ensure the construction of the toilets near each e-vehicle stand in the city, according to the officials.
“The MCG commissioner has asked the concessionaire to submit a report on the markets in the proposed e-vehicle zone, population of the areas and the number of e-vehicles which would ply in the zone,” a senior MCG official told TOI.
“Moreover, it was also decided at the meeting that no diesel or CNG autos will be allowed inside the e-vehicle zone. A free shuttle service will also be provided initially in the e-vehicle zone,” he added.
Moreover, it was also suggested at the meeting that a separate corridor should be made in the e-vehicle zone for e-rickshaws since these are slow-moving vehicles and that every e-vehicle should carry the information of the zone. “It was also decided to make the rate list available to the public,” the official said.
