News: Repair on cards for eway-Old Delhi Rd link-30-07-2021
Gurgaon: The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has decided to repair the dividing road for sector 17/18 that is not only used by the residents of the two sectors but is also a link between Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway (NH-8) and Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road.
According to the sources, the authority has already floated the tenders for the project and have invited agencies. “The project is expected to cost around Rs 6.8 crores,” said a GMDA official. The project will be completed in six months from the date of the allotment of the tender.
As a part of the project, the appointed agency will fill the potholes, repair footpaths along with strengthening the road so that it can hold heavy weight vehicles. The agency will also be liable for the maintenance of the stretch for at least two years. During the liability period, the agency will be responsible for filling of potholes, cleaning drains, culverts and pits.
GMDA has rolled out tenders for the maintenance and repair of multiple roads in the city, including those in the new sectors. These roads had never been made as some portions of land were still under litigation. GMDA had invited agencies for the work of building the missing links of master dividing roads of sectors 81/82, 92/95, 81/86 and outer roads of sectors 91 and 92.
The Gurgaon-Manesar master plan 2031 says while Huda (the task now comes under GMDA) will develop the 60-meter-wide roads, the internal 24-meter roads would be developed by the builders in their area. Consequently, most builders have only developed the patches in front of their societies leaving huge connectivity gaps in these sectors.
Meanwhile, GMDA is also in the process of repairing several important stretches including one on SPR and a link road between Sirhaul toll and Delhi.
