News: Road outside cratered, flat owners shut main gate-24-07-2021
GURUGRAM: To draw the attention of the Public Works Department (PWD) and Municipal Corporation of Manesar ( MCM) to the dilapidated condition of the road outside their, society, residents of Orris Carnation Residency in Sector 85 have locked the main gate since the past two days.
Residents said that due to the potholed road, accidents have taken place outside the main gate. Despite complaining to the concerned officials, no action has been taken in last three years. The road gets waterlogged due to the continuous flow of wastewater from Sikanderpur Badha village, which does not have a proper drainage system.
Satinder Bhatia, a RWA member of the society, said, “It’s been three years since we are suffering. We are forced to cross the dirty water which flood the main road making it hard for us to locate the potholes. So, in order to draw the attention of the authorities, we have locked the main gate.”
Around 1,000 families reside in the society. In March last year, PWD had made an estimate that it would cost Rs. 56 lakh to construct a drain, but the work could not be started due to lack of feasibility.
Naresh Kumar, RWA vice-president, said, “Till last year we were paying from our pocket and getting the road cleared of wastewater. All our pleas to concerned authorities and local representatives have fallen on deaf ears.”
A senior PWD official said, “We have written to the district development and panchayat officer several times to instruct the sarpanch and gram panchayat of Sikanderpur Badha not to divert the wastewater on the road. Now after the formation of the municipal corporation, we are not responsible for the construction as MCM has to take care of it.”
Meanwhile, MCM commissioner Munish Sharma said, “ As of now, there are many roads which are with the GMDA, HSIIDC and HSVP, so we are earmarking those roads with the information of concerned officials, so that citizens know whom to approach. I am yet to receive any representation from Orris Carnation .”
