News: Haryana: Naib tehsildar booked for Rs 5 lakh extortion-15-06-2021
AMBALA: The police have registered a case under charges of demanding extortion of Rs 5 lakh and corruption against naib tehsildar of Ambala Cantonment after a former Ambala Municipal Corporation councillor lodged a complaint.
On the complaint of Onkar Nath Paruthi, ex-councillor of Ambala Sadar MC, a case has been registered.
Onkar Nath, who is also a Congress leader, approached Haryana home and health minister Anil Vij and submitted a complaint against the naib tehsildar Bodhraj.
Onkar Nath alleged, "On April 5, 2021, I had filed an application before Ambala Cantonment naib tehsildar Bodhraj to register and approve an intekal, and for the same, he demanded Rs 2 lakh. I paid him Rs 1 lakh. Now, he is demanding Rs 5 lakh more," he alleged.
Ambala SDM Sachin Gupta said, "The naib tehsildar was to retire on June 30 and he is presently on leave due to health issued. We are investigating the matter."
