News: 1,500 families suffer as outage hits Ardee City-11-06-2021
Gurgaon: Residents of Ardee City in Sector 52 faced nearly 19 hours of outage starting from Wednesday evening as an underground power cable caught fire around 9pm. The Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) officials managed to partially restore the connection till 11.30am on Thursday, while the work could be completed by 4.30pm. Residents said the power supply was disrupted in the C block of the colony where around 1,500 families reside.
With the rise in mercury level and outage, many residents had to spent the night in the open and those working from home also faced severe hurdle. Ajay Kumar Singh, a resident of the colony, said, “The power infrastructure in the colony is in a dilapidated condition since past many years. There was no power supply the entire night and in the present weather condition it was unbearable for us. ”
“DHBVN took over the power supply in this colony in September 2018. However, every summer we face the same issue with power cables bursting. These cables are old and have worn out and need replacement. We have been requesting DHBVN for the same. One of our resident is on oxygen support and without electricity it is very difficult for the family to manage,” said Chaitali Mandhotra, a member of Ardee City RWA.
PK Chauhan, the superintending engineer of DHBVN, said, “The power supply was disrupted because of a fault in LT power cable which has been replaced. When infrastructure is damaged it takes some time to repair, however, I will instruct officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply.”
