GURUGRAM: The enforcement wing of town and country planning department (DTCP) on Wednesday asked Gurgaon police to register FIR against three developers and land owners for developing an illegal colony in Pataudi.
In a letter, district town planner RS Batth asked the Pataudi police to file a case against Edrish, Pista and Santra, for carving out an illegal colony on an agricultural land for residential and commercial purpose and carrying out unauthorised construction of houses and road in violation of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Area Act, 1975.
During site visit by the enforcement team, it was found that the land measuring around three acre falls within an urban area. As per norms, it is mandatory for the land owner to get a licence from DTCP before carving out a colony within urban area.
The department had served a show cause notice to the offenders in February but they failed to furnish satisfactory reply after which restoration order was issued on June 8 directing them to restore the land to its original state, officials said.
Batth said the violation of Act is a punishable offence with imprisonment up to 3 years, therefore, the department has written to police to stop the development of unauthorized colony being done by the offenders and register a FIR against them and other offenders whose name gets associated with the offence during course of investigation.
Further to prevent innocent homebuyers and investors from investing in such illegal colonies and getting duped, the department has started putting warning boards at the sites where illegal colonies had come up and demolished and other areas which might be targeted by offenders. On first day, the enforcement team installed boards at five sites including farmhouse colonies in Sohna and illegal colony in Sector 69.
