News: DTCP team demolishes 35 illegal shops in Khandsa-03-06-2021
Gurgaon: The enforcement wing of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) demolished 35 illegal shops being constructed in a single building in Khandsa on Wednesday.
The action was taken after the building owner, Sector 37 resident Om Prakash Kataria, failed to comply with a show-cause notice and a restoration order issued by DTCP. An FIR had been filed last week against Kataria under relevant sections of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975 for constructing shops without licence, building plan or permission from the departments concerned.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said a demolition drive was carried out in Khandsa village, where around 35 shops were being constructed in violation of the rules. “The offenders were carrying out construction despite warnings. On Wednesday, the enforcement team, with the help of four earthmovers, razed the shops. The six-hour long drive was carried out in the presence of 200 police personnel,” said Batth.
Kataria, meanwhile, said none of the buildings in Khandsa have building plans. “The complainant in my case is a person against whom I have filed several complaints related to unauthorised construction,” he added.
